organization that has always been working towards an orderly corporate social
responsibility plan including ways of benefitting the masses of our country
especially the youth who will for sure be a part of tomorrow’s stronger
workforce. Social responsibility has become a global phenomenon due to which
corporations around the world now heavily focus on the nurturing of the society.
Ufone, one of the leading telecom companies in the country, has been at the
forefront of many public initiatives which have been taken to benefit their
valued customers. Since inception Ufone has been a socially responsible
organization, and over the last few years, has increased its focus on Child
Health Care. Moreover, there is also a keen focus on highlighting the need for a
green and healthy environment. Ufone has been conducting Plant-a-Tree campaigns
in various parts of the country, especially in hospitals and schools to ensure
that a healthy environment is provided to all. |

From community work to CSR initiatives concerning education, sports and health
Ufone has always been involved in introducing initiatives to support the nation

It would be beneficial for all if all industries and companies take into account
the challenges and opportunities that they are facing and how they can implement
the best practices to ensure that their organization is socially and
environmentally responsible. Issues relevant to a telecommunication company will
be different to those facing an oil company. All responsible organizations must
support and encourage all its employees to actively participate in
community-enhancement projects. There is increasing evidence that people value
working for companies who are good corporate citizens and taking part in CSR
activities can boost employee motivation and morale as well as enhancing skills,
bringing potential benefits to businesses of all sizes. |

Do you believe responsible businesses could expedite the development process
in Pakistan by making a contribution to community development programmes through
CSR? |

All companies need to consider their impacts on the communities in which they
operate and the environment. However, there is no 'one size fits all' approach
to CSR. Ufone has been a keen participant when it comes to social
responsibility. It's who we are and nothing will change that. Not only is it
important for Ufone's reputation, it is a critical element of our business
